                        About the Artist
Vincent Trasov (b. 1947, Edmonton, Alberta) is a foundational figure in Canadian conceptual art and the Vancouver art scene. He is widely recognized for his groundbreaking performance work and interdisciplinary practice that began in the early 1970s. Trasov famously ran for mayor of Vancouver in 1974 embodying his alter-ego "Mr. Peanut," a whimsical yet subversive act that blurred the lines between art, politics, and public spectacle. His oeuvre consistently challenges traditional artistic frameworks, exploring the role of the artist, the nature of media, and the dynamics of public perception. Through a blend of performance, painting, and photography, Trasov's work is characterized by its intellectual rigor, playful irony, and enduring critique of societal norms.
