                        About the Artist
Teresa Margolles, born in 1963 in Culiacán, Mexico, is an internationally significant conceptual artist whose uncompromising work directly confronts the brutal realities of violence, death, and social inequality. A former forensic pathologist, Margolles frequently uses bodily fluids, materials, and documented testimonies from crime scenes, morgues, and marginalized communities in her installations, photography, and performances. Her profound and often unsettling art serves as a stark indictment of the violence prevalent in Mexico and globally, particularly related to drug trafficking, femicide, and poverty. By bringing these unseen realities into the gallery space, Margolles forces viewers to engage with discomforting truths, challenging complicity and demanding recognition for the lives lost and the systems that perpetuate suffering.
