                        About the Artist
Franco Mazzucchelli (b. 1939, Milan) is an influential Italian artist, recognized as a pioneering figure in "arte gonfiabile" or inflatable art since the 1960s. His innovative practice fundamentally challenged the traditional paradigms of sculpture, permanence, and artistic ownership. Mazzucchelli's work is characterized by large-scale, often monumental, inflatable structures made from PVC and other industrial materials, which are designed to be temporary and participatory. His projects frequently involve public interventions, where the inflation and deflation of his works become a communal event, shifting focus from the object to the shared experience. Through his ephemeral creations, Mazzucchelli critiques consumerism, institutional control, and explores the dynamic relationship between art, environment, and audience engagement.
