About the Gallery
Mitre Galeria, established in 2023 by Rodrigo Mitre, is a dynamic force in the contemporary art landscape, committed to fostering a diverse and vibrant social imaginary in Brazil and beyond. The gallery champions artistic practice as a pivotal driver for individual and societal transformation.
Mitre Galeria actively shapes the contemporary art scene in Minas Gerais, Brazil, and internationally, representing a compelling roster of artists across generations, contexts, and practices. Their program is distinguished by its embrace of aesthetic inventions that challenge perspectives, prompting a re-examination of the past, an imaginative leap into the future, and a grounding in present-day concerns. The gallery consistently seeks out thought-provoking initiatives that venture into the unknown, embracing mystery as a vital artistic force.
Mitre Galeria has rapidly gained global recognition, participating in prestigious art fairs and exhibitions. In 2025, the gallery notably won the Focus Stand Prize at Frieze New York for its solo presentation of Luana Vitra's work. They have also showcased artists like Marcos Siqueira at Frieze New York and featured Luana Vitra prominently at the 35th São Paulo Biennial. With a second space recently opened in São Paulo, Mitre Galeria continues to expand its influence and activities worldwide.
