About the Gallery
Galerie Atiss Dakar, founded in 1996 by Aissa Dione, is a pivotal institution in West African contemporary art. The gallery has earned a reputation for identifying and nurturing emerging artistic talent, often providing their first international exposure. It actively promotes African artists globally and is a prominent "OFF space" during the Dak'Art Biennale, participating in every edition since its inception. In 2020, Galerie Atiss Dakar relocated to a four-level space in the Medina district, enabling artist residencies and a more diverse program of screenings, discussions, and meetings. The gallery fosters intercultural exchange and aims to bridge artistic dialogues between West and East Africa.
