About the Gallery
Established in 1995 by Edda Jónsdóttir and Börkur Arnarson, i8 Gallery has become an influential institution in Reykjavík, known for its conceptual and intellectually-driven approach to contemporary art. The gallery represents twenty-three artists working across various mediums, including sculpture, painting, video, and performance, united by their commitment to rigorous artistic practices. Originally based at Ingólfstræti 8, i8 Gallery relocated in 2010 to a space near Reykjavík Harbor, adjacent to the Reykjavík Art Museum. In 2022, the gallery expanded with i8 Grandi, a second location focusing on solo exhibitions, situated in the Marshall House cultural center in Reykjavík's Grandi district.
