About the Gallery
Claes Nordenhake opened his gallery in Malmö in 1976. Initially focused on abstract painting, the gallery began showcasing large-scale sculptures in 1986, featuring artists like Ulrich Rückriem and Richard Serra. Nordenhake played a key role in launching the international careers of artists such as Anthony Gormley, Hreinn Friðfinnsson, and John Coplans. In 1990, they presented Mirosław Bałka's first solo exhibition outside Poland. A Berlin gallery opened in 2000, working with artists like Spencer Finch and Marjetica Potrč. In 2006, the gallery began representing the estate of photographer Michael Schmidt. Recent additions to the gallery's roster include Stanley Whitney, Sarah Crowner, and Paul Fägerskiöld, along with emerging artists like Ayan Farah and Sophie Reinhold.
