About the Gallery
Xavier Hufkens, one of Europe’s leading contemporary art galleries, was founded in 1987 in Brussels. Initially located in an un-refurbished warehouse, the gallery focused on mid-career and emerging artists, introducing influential figures like Antony Gormley, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, and Rosemarie Trockel to Brussels. In 1992, it relocated to a renovated 19th-century townhouse in Ixelles, gaining a reputation for showcasing contemporary art. Over the years, the gallery expanded, adding a second space in 2013 designed by architect Harry Gugger. Xavier Hufkens represents renowned artists like Louise Bourgeois, Tracey Emin, and Walter Swennen and is committed to publishing comprehensive catalogues and monographs on their work.
